We all see the signs, but do we all pay attention?
Erie Water Works is committed to creating a safe working environment for our employees, especially the construction crews working on the roads in our service area. Whenever and wherever our crews are working on or near a roadway, a potentially hazardous situation is created. To help combat this, the Erie Water Works utilizes a professional contractor to place barricades and warning signs to alert vehicle traffic and pedestrians of the work zone. In addition, our employees are trained in work zone safety and site set up to protect themselves.
The one thing we cannot protect against is careless drivers who refuse to obey the warning signs and enter the work zone. This poses a danger to our workers concentrating on their job and themselves. We understand that road closings are a temporary inconvenience but they are necessary for us to complete our work.
Please, when you see any utility road crews working respect their work zones and allow them to work safely.
