The Erie Water Works and its contractor, ValveTek Utility Services, will be initiating an important maintenance project on its water mains, valves and fire hydrants within portions of Southeast Erie, Wesleyville, and Harborcreek. These operations are being performed in order to enhance the water system. Work will occur between August and November in the following areas:
• City of Erie – between Glenwood Park Avenue and Davison Avenue from East 19th to East 38th Street.
• Wesleyville – between Bird Drive and Riverside Drive from Pearl Avenue to East 26th Street
• Harborcreek – between Sterling Avenue and Depot Road from Buffalo Road to Markwood Drive

Part of the work will include a “flushing” of the system which will stir up minerals in the piping. EWW will notify customers 2 days in advance of these efforts through the use of informative ‘door hangers’. This work is projected to begin in late September or early August. Water customers may experience some cloudiness in the water which is to be expected. The water is not harmful but should not be consumed or used for laundering without first running cold water from faucets until it becomes clear. Customers should check the clarity of the water prior to laundering in order to prevent discoloration of clothing.
These efforts help EWW fulfill its mission, “To guarantee a continuous, uninterrupted, reasonably priced supply of quality water to its customers which assures public health while promoting regional stability and future development.”
Feel free to call the Customer Service Department at (814) 870-8000 if you have any questions regarding this project.
