2012 Comprehensive Water System Maintenance – Project Details

December 11, 2012

The Erie Water Works and its contractor, ValveTek Utility Services, have completed important maintenance work on its water mains, valves and fire hydrants within portions of Harborcreek, Lawrence Park, northeast and central Millcreek, and southwest Erie. These operations were performed in order to enhance the water system. Work occurred between April and November 2012. The work areas can still be viewed by clicking the link below, which will launch the overall Project Area Map.

Part of the work included a “flushing” of the water system. EWW notified customers 5 days in advance of these efforts through the use of informative telephone calls. The system flushing began in August 2012.

These efforts help EWW fulfill its mission, “To guarantee a continuous, uninterrupted, reasonably priced supply of quality water to its customers which assures public health while promoting regional stability and future development.”

In conjunction with a weekly schedule update, the flushing map links below were used to help customers understand when the water system in their area would be flushed.
