Economic Development

Throughout its history, the Erie Water Works has played a vital role as a community partner in the area of economic development. Over the next six years it is anticipated that EWW will invest as much as $65 million toward Capital Improvement Projects that will enhance our current system as well as prepare us for future growth.

In July of 2002 the EWW adopted a policy in an effort to promote economic development in the Erie Region. The Policy was created to benefit new non-residential customers of the Erie Water Works service area and promote the attraction of job-creating businesses to the Erie Region. Initially, the Policy was to be implemented for a period of five years. However, at the May 17, 2007 Board Meeting, the EWW Board of Directors, on the recommendation of the Finance Committee, approved to extend the program through December 31, 2008.

The complete policy can be viewed by visiting the Economic Rate and our 2008 Capital Improvements can be viewed by visiting the Capital Projects.
